Hardware Wish List
Since we are completely dependant on sponsored equipment, being short of essential hardware is unfortunately kind of a natural state for us. So -- here's a quick list of what we currently need. If you know anyone (or any company) who could help us out, please drop us a note. Trying to work around old / weak / missing hardware is one of the most unpleasant parts of our job here :(
- Mirror Service:
- 3-8 TB of diskspace (SATA RAID)
- A modern server capable of saturating a Gbps line, with some CPU power to spare (rsync can eat a lot of that) and plenty of RAM (16G should be optimal). Something like a good Dual-Opteron box or Sun's T2000.
- Project Hosting:
- One modern dual-CPU server with about 4 GB RAM as project webserver
- Backup Storage:
- 2-4 TB of diskspace (SATA RAID) for daily backups
